Gunpla terms, explained

Gunpla means Gundam plastic model. Most modern kits are snap-fit, so glue is normally unnecessary, and the plastic is already coloured. HG means High Grade, usually a manageable 1/144 scale and the easiest place to begin. SD kits use compact, stylised proportions and are quick, friendly builds. MG means Master Grade, normally 1/100 scale with more parts, internal detail and a longer build. Panel lining means adding fine dark lines to recessed details, while nippers are the cutters used to remove parts cleanly from the plastic frame, called a runner.

Tools: the useful extras every builder needs

A first-time builder mainly needs a good pair of nippers. Sanding sticks help tidy the small marks left after parts are cut, a panel-lining marker adds definition, and a display base makes an articulated kit look far more dramatic on the shelf.
