HG 1/144 Gundam Aerial

The HG Gundam Aerial is the lead mobile suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, and it's a kit that has a few genuinely interesting construction details worth knowing about. The shield separates into 11 individual bit staves, which can be attached to various points across the suit to recreate poses and configurations from the series.

The shell unit is handled through a combination of in-mould colour parts, double-sided seals, and clear parts. The double-sided seals are printed on the adhesive face, so when applied from behind the clear parts they create a sense of depth and transparency rather than sitting flat on the surface. You can also choose at assembly whether to build the shell unit in its light-emitting or non-light-emitting state. Beam parts are rendered in clear moulding throughout.
