Asra Nine-Tails : Megami Device

ASRA NINE-TAILS is the latest addition to Kotobukiya's Megami Device series, a line of 14 cm plastic model kits that blend Bishoujo-style character design with substantial weapons and armour. The series features a core body known as the "machineca," designed by Masaki Apsy, and this particular entry was designed by Nidy-2D-. It comes with a small original pamphlet produced in collaboration with Hobby Japan.

The kit introduces a range of newly tooled parts, including a fox mask, two separate chest parts, and various joints, all in a new colour scheme. The weapon blades are moulded in clear pink plastic, and three face parts come pre-printed via tampography, so no painting is needed to get a clean result straight from the box. The kit can be configured in either Armed Mode, with the full armour on, or Unarmed Mode for a stripped-back look. The machineca base body has a solid range of articulation, handling natural poses like weapon-ready stances or seated positions without much fuss. Five sets of PVC hands are included, compatible with weapons from the M.S.G, Frame Arms, and Frame Arms Girl series. Eye decals and additional markings are also provided.

The 3mm connection points throughout the kit make it straightforward to combine with parts from the M.S.G, Frame Arms, and Frame Arms Girl lines, which opens up a fair amount of customisation if you already have kits from those series.
